Even Pacing Wins Marathons
The chart above assumes even pacing — running each kilometer at the same speed. It’s the most efficient way to race a marathon: going out too fast burns glycogen early and almost always costs more time in the closing miles than it banks at the start.
Many strong runners aim for a slight negative split, running the second half a touch faster than the first. Use the even-pace splits here as your baseline and adjust from there.

Is Your Target Realistic?
Base your goal on a recent race rather than hope — the race time predictor estimates your marathon from a shorter result. Then get full splits with the pace calculator and map the course distance with the run route planner.
