Fuel Cost Calculator
Work out the fuel cost of a drive from the distance, your vehicle’s fuel economy and the price of fuel. Works with any currency and both mpg and L/100km.

— liters used
— kg CO₂ (petrol)
How It Works
Fuel cost is straightforward once everything is in the same units:
Fuel used = distance × consumption Cost = fuel used × price per unit
This calculator normalizes miles/km, mpg/L·100km/km·L, and per-liter/per-gallon prices, so you can mix whatever your dashboard and pump display.
CO₂ Estimate
Burning 1 liter of petrol releases about 2.31 kg of CO₂ (diesel is closer to 2.68 kg). The emissions figure shown is a petrol estimate — a useful ballpark for comparing trips or offsetting.
Split It and Compare Routes
- Measure the real driving distance before you set off with the driving distance calculator.
- Comparing two ways to go? Measure each with the route planner and run both through this calculator.
- Sharing fuel costs on a road trip? Divide the total by the number of passengers.
